I wrote this educator’s guide to support the classroom use of Dad, I Miss You by Nadia Sammurtok. Designed for students ages 9–11, the resource includes age-appropriate pre-reading activities, discussion prompts, and classroom lessons that help students engage with the story’s themes while building emotional intelligence. The guide also offers historical context on the residential school system in Canada, and supports educators in approaching this topic with care and sensitivity.
